At the Party-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named
Since I missed the first Party-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, I was super-excited to go to this year's event. Jefferson Avenue, just east of my homestead, was closed off and the downtown stores were prepared with games and give-aways.
According to articles on the internet, there were 70,000 people at the first event in 2007! Chicago didn't have that many people in the whole city until midway through the 1850s!
This time, "only" about 10,000 folks showed up for the 2016 party -- which is still a whole heck of a lot of people! There were crowds of well-behaved children, even though there was a great deal of wand-waving. Many of children were dressed up in costumes from the Harry Potter books. Plenty of their parents were dressed up, too!
The weather was perfect and everyone -- including me -- had a grand time!
