At the Christkindl Market
When you're all bundled up with only your cold nose exposed, that's the perfect time to attend the Christkindl Market at Naper Settlement because the best part is the wonderful aroma! From cinnamon-roasted nuts to hot spiced wine to melty cheese on freshly-baked bread to -- oh, golly! Someone get me a napkin -- I'm drooling again!
Of course there are also dozens of vendors offering beautiful Christmas ornaments and decorations as well as winter-themed clothing and accessories. The open air marketing feels as authentic as strolling the booths back in the Olde Country.
Speaking of the old country, many people think the Napers were German, but the Naper clan was originally from Scotland, as were several other of the earliest families to settle here. In the 1840s, however, a large number of German families came to Naperville, bringing their traditions and language and tweaking the town's identity. You'll find plenty of German family names in Naperville history which makes the Christkindl Market feel right at home.
